My personal commentary appears indented, in black, in italics, throughout this review and in the Commentary section.
On January 7, 2026, an ICE officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.
Good was in her vehicle, behind the steering wheel at the time of the shooting.
Her vehicle was in the middle of the road at an angle, when two ICE officers approached her vehicle.
One of the officers said "Get out of the car. Get out of the fucking car." as the officer grabbed the driver's side door handle.
Good backed up her vehicle just a bit, then began moving slowly forward while turning the steering wheel to the right. It's clear from the video that she turned the steering wheel to the right because you can see the front left wheel turned to the right.
Then, a third officer appears at the left front corner of Good's vehicle and fires at least two shots into the vehicle with a firearm as Good's vehicle moves forward and to the right, killing Good.
Watch a close up video of the incident shot by bystander Caitlin Colleson from behind Good's vehicle here.

Donald Trump responded to the shooting on Truth Social:
I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital. The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!
PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
J.D. Vance responded to the shooting on X:
This is preposterous.
First of all, she's not waving the officers through and has no right to do so even if she were. She is waving another car through, before the officers approach her car.
Second, the officers are not randomly searching her, they are approaching her vehicle because she is violating the law: namely, she is obstructing a lawful enforcement operation. You're not allowed to walk up to or drive up to people who are enforcing the law to make it harder for them to do their jobs.
Third, this defense attorney is drawing a meaningless distinction between an ICE officer and a "real police officer." Again, you're not allowed to interrupt a lawful enforcement operation, which is exactly what this woman was doing.
Fourth, the officer didn't discharge his weapon to prevent her from fleeing. When he discharged his weapon, she had pointed the vehicle at him and pressed the gas. He discharged his weapon in self defense, and other angles of the video show the woman *clearly* hit the officer with her car while accelerating.
The gaslighting is off the charts and I'm having none of it. This guy was doing his job. She tried to stop him from doing his job. When he approached her car, she tried to hit him.
A tragedy? Absolutely. But a tragedy that falls on this woman and all of the radicals who teach people that immigration is the one type of law that rioters are allowed to interfere with.
Tom Homan, Trump's "border czar" responded to the shooting on X:
The incident in Minneapolis today is yet another tragic example of the results of the hateful rhetoric and violent attacks against the men and women of ICE and BP. These brave men and women are forced to conduct law enforcement operations in heightened threat environments every day. Like all Americans, our officers have a right to self defense.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem responded by saying:
The officer was hit by the vehicle. She hit him. He went to the hospital. A doctor did treat him. He has been released, but he's going to spend some time with his family.
It's clearly established law that a vehicle driven by a person and used to harm someone, is a deadly weapon. Deadly force is perfectly lawful when a threat is faced by a weapon. So I do believe that this officer used his training in this situation.
ICE agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car and to stop obstructing law enforcement, but she refused to obey their commands. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer over.
Progressive commentator Brian Tyler Cohen responded with two separate posts on YouTube:
"Trump issues SHOCKING update on ICE shooting in Minnesota"
"JD Vance issues INSANE announcement on Minneapolis shooting"
Heather Cox Richardson responded with a very informative and insightful video entitled "Facism, Renee Nicole Good, & Something Shifted Today" which you can watch here.

Donald Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don't obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State. Thank you for you attention to this matter! President DJT
The Insurrection Act allows the president to employ armed forces. The last time is was invoked was during the 1992 Los Angles riots.

Donald Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
Do the people of Minnesota really want to live in a community in which there are thousands of already convicted murderers, drug dealers and addicts, rapists, violent released and escaped prisoners, dangerous people from foreign mental institutions and insane asylums, and other deadly criminals too dangerous to even mention. All the patriots of ICE want to do is remove them from your neighborhood and send them back to the prisons and mental institutions from where they came, most in foreign Countries who illegally entered the USA though Sleepy Joe Biden's HORRIBLE Open Border's Policy. Every place we go, crime comes down. In Chicago, despite a weak and incompetent Governor and Mayor fighting us all the way, a big improvement was made. Thousands of Criminals were removed! Minnesota Democrats love the unrest that anarchists and professional agitators are causing because it gets the spotlight off of the 19 Billion Dollars that was stolen by really bad and deranged people. FEAR NOT, GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!

January 9, 2026 Update
A video emerged, shot by the officer who shot and killed Good, which shows the shooting from the officer's perspective.
In the video you clearly see Good turning the steering wheel, away from the officer.
In addition, just prior to shots being fired, another woman on the right side of Good's vehicle says "You want to come at us? I say, go get yourself some lunch, big boy. Go ahead."

The officer was very close to Good's vehicle so he had a clear view of Good as she turned the steering wheel. This should have been an indication to him that Good was not trying to run over him.
I think that it takes a certain kind of person to work as an immigration officer, in particular during the Trump administration. That person in general, in my opinion, is someone who is aggressive, angry, and easily provoked. I think the comments made by the woman on the right side of Good's vehicle are significant. I think what she said most likely angered the officer. Anger is not a reason or an excuse to use excessive force.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted the following on X:
The media smeared an ICE Agent who properly defended himself from being run over by organized leftist protesters who were impeding an active law enforcement operation.
The reason trust in the media is at an all-time low is because they intentionally lie to the public to advance the Democrats' narrative.
That's exactly what they did in this case in Minnesota. More evidence here:
Along with the post, Leavitt included the video shot from the officer's perspective.
Leavitt also posted the following on X:
I am hereby calling on the New York Times to update their reporting on the ICE Agent's self defense in Minnesota.
President Trump was right, again.
Along with the post was a screen shot of an excerpt from a recent The New York Times article about the shooting.
Leavitt is one of the sickest of Trump's sycophants.
When high-ranking government officials start trying to control and silence the media, that's when you know you are in the initial phase of fascism.
January 8, 2026 Update
Yesterday, federal authorities told the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) that it would be working jointly with the FBI on the investigation into the shooting of Renee Nicole Good. Today, the BCA said that the FBI reversed course, saying the BCA is no longer a part of the investigation. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the BCA did not have jurisdiction and had not been cut out of the investigation.

Last summer during a traffic stop, Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer who shot and killed Renee Good, was dragged across the pavement for about 100 yards when his arm became pinned into the back window of a car as the driver sped away.
During testimony involving the incident, Ross said he had performed "hundreds" of traffic stops in his career over nearly two decades in Border Patrol and then ICE – including encounters with drivers seeking to flee. Ross also said:
They [drivers of stopped vehicles] do erratic behaviors, they take great risks, and they seem to not be aware of other people driving on the road. They usually – they make just extreme movements with their vehicles.

You would think that someone with Ross's nearly two decades of experience would know better than to stand in front of a stopped vehicle.
Ross himself said to a jury last summer that drivers of stopped vehicles "do erratic behaviors," "take great risks," and "make just extreme movements with their vehicles."
Apparently, Ross didn't learn a thing from his past experiences.
If you want to argue that he was trained to do that, go right ahead. Whether that's true or not is immaterial. If you had been through all the experiences that Ross (apparently) has, and you know that drivers of stopped vehicles can't be trusted, why in the hell would you put yourself at risk by standing in front of a vehicle?
It sounds pretty damn stupid to me.
The fact that the car was moving (backwards) should have been even more of a clue to Ross that the engine was running. If the engine is running, that should have told Ross to be even more careful.
But Ross wasn't careful at all.
Instead he stood right in front of Good's vehicle.
Commentary:
Trump and his sycophants have really gone off the deep end on this one.
It's clear to any reasonable, rational person that Good DID NOT try to hit or run over the ICE officer with her vehicle.
Two points make this perfectly clear.
First, why did Good first back up before proceeding forward? If her intent was to hit the officer, why would she have bothered to backup at all? If she wanted to hit the officer she would have just proceeded forward.
Second, after backing up, the wheels of Good's vehicle were CLEARLY pointed to the right which says she was trying to turn to the right, NOT hit the officer. In other words, she was trying to avoid hitting the officer. All she wanted to do was drive away, without further incident.
If the officer felt somehow threatened by Good's vehicle, why didn't he just move to his right or use his hands to push his body away from her vehicle instead of firing his weapon? I think the answer is obvious. The officer shot Good because he did not want her to get away.
Regarding Trump's response, he included a video along with his post, and it's one of the two shot from a distance. Because the video was shot from so far away it's hard to see what actually happened, much less make any conclusive statements. Apparently, Trump based his B.S. analysis of what happened based on that video. If he had seen the close up video, why didn't he include that one in his post? Historically, Trump comes to conclusions and makes public statements about events long before all of the evidence is available. That's exactly what he did here.
Trump said that Good "viciously ran over the ICE Officer," which is complete B.S. Then he resorts to his "tried and true" strategy of blaming the incident on the "Radical Left." This guy just keeps getting more and more deluded and "off the rails" as time goes on.
Vance's "rant," just like Vance himself, is just pure B.S.
Homan chimes in with the same "hateful rhetoric" B.S. that Trump himself has pioneered and mastered.
Noem's claim that Good hit the officer and that he went to the hospital is just an attempt to gaslight the American public into believing that Good was the "bad guy." In the video, you can see the officer walking back from Good's vehicle after it crashed into a parked vehicle. The officer appeared completely unharmed, he was walking at a reasonably fast gait, and without a limp.
This is an absolute abomination on the part of our U.S. government.
To say that it's shameful, reprehensible, and pathetic doesn't even come close to describing what the U.S. government under Trump has become.
The ICE officer who shot and killed Good had no business drawing a firearm and shooting Good. He committed a homicide. But, because of the effort by Trump and his sycophants to paint a completely unrealistic and false account of what actually transpired, and because Trump and his sycophants will do anything to protect their "own people" regardless of how heinous the act, the officer will not be brought to justice.
You've heard me use the phrase "Beyond FUBAR." We are now "B squared F." In other words beyond "Beyond FUBAR."
It's been exactly one week since the shooting. Why did it take so long for this information to be disclosed?
Based on how heated the debate has been, you would think that Noem and DHS would have provided as much information as possible, right away, to support their stance that the shooting was justified.
I watched all of the videos. I find it hard to believe that Good's vehicle caused the injuries claimed. I think it's possible that the internal bleeding might be due to some other condition, not related to the incident.
Noem and DHS should produce medical records which show the date and details of the diagnosis.
