Op-Ed | Donald Trump Panders to His Christian Base with Absolutely Pathetic and Disgusting Fundraising Email

On the morning of August 25, 2025, Donald Trump's PAC Never Surrender, Inc. sent a fundraising email with the subject line "I want to try and get to Heaven."

The text of the email reads:

Last year I came millimeters from death when that bullet pierced through my skin. My triumphant return to the White House was never supposed to happen!

But I believe that God saved me for one reason: TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

I wasn't supposed to beat Crooked Hillary in 2016 — but I did.

I wasn't supposed to secure the border & build the greatest economy in history — but I did.

I certainly wasn't supposed to survive an assassin's bullet — but by the grace of the almighty God, I did.

SO NOW, I have no other choice but to answer the Call to Duty, but I can't do it alone.

[Recipient name], you've been with me through everything.

You were there when they launched: the Russia Hoax, the first Impeachment, the second Impeachment, the rigged 2020 election, the Raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Arrest and Mugshot at the Fulton County Jail, the Removal from the CO ballot, the sham cases in DC / FL / NY / DC, the first Assassination attempt, the second Assassination attempt, and so much more!

Just because I won in a HISTORIC landslide and have unleashed the Golden Age of America, THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE CAN TAKE OUR FOOT OFF THE GAS!

The forces that hate our country don't want a secure border or safe cities or high paying jobs. The Radical Left Lunatics want to STOP MAGA, but we're not going to let them NO MATTER WHAT.

Let me make this SOLEMN PLEDGE to you: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER!

I put my life on the line willingly because this is what I was made to do, but our movement, the beautiful MAGA movement, is powered by YOU.

Every time they count us out – count YOU out – we come back bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.

This is our moment to show the world that we will NEVER back down, NEVER give an inch, and NEVER SURRENDER in our fight to save this country.

That's why I've launched a 24 HOUR TRUMP FUNDRAISING BLITZ, and I'm asking everyone to chip in $15 to make it one for the record books!

So if you're with me all the way to the end, join with MILLIONS of your fellow PATRIOTS by chipping in $15 to keep the wins rolling in!

The email concludes with links to "GIVE $15" to "STAND WITH TRUMP" and the president's signature.

On August 19, 2025, during a phone interview with the Fox News program "Fox & Friends" Trump said:

I want to try and get to Heaven if possible. I'm hearing I'm not doing well. I hear I'm really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to Heaven, this [negotiating an end to the Russia/Ukraine war] will be one of the reasons.

Commentary:

Once again the audacity of Trump (and by association his PAC) is just mind-blowing.

This is the epitome of pandering.

Trump's net worth is not publicly known, but it's been estimated at between $5.1 billion and $7.08 billion in 2025. Even if these estimates are way high, I think it's fair to say that Trump is fairly well-off, which means he doesn't need the money.

Trump says "I want to try and get to Heaven." while also asking his supporters for money, which implies that somehow "chipping in" will help make his wish a reality. Of course this is total B.S., but Trump knows that he has millions upon millions of faithful Christians who are "all-in" members of the Trump cult, who will do just about anything he says. What Trump is doing is called grifting, something he's done many, many times before.

For Trump to even say that he wants to get to "Heaven" is pathetic and disgusting in and of itself. Trump is a pathological liar, he's the biggest con-man and extortionist in the history of U.S politics, and he knows it!

In 2015, during Trump's first presidential campaign, speaking to a crowd of conservative Christian activists in Iowa he said, "I'm not sure I have ever asked God's forgiveness." He later clarified that by saying "I go to communion and that's asking forgiveness, you know, it's a form of asking forgiveness." Trump also said, "I try not [to] make mistakes where I have to ask forgiveness" adding, "Why do I have to repent or ask forgiveness, if I am not making mistakes?"

So, you see, Trump thinks he never makes mistakes. He thinks he's infallible. And, if you've been paying attention over the past 10 years, that's quite evident by everything he says and does. How on earth can you think you're infallible when you lie, pander, grift, con, and extort like Trump?

Trump said, "I hear I'm really at the bottom of the totem pole," which implies he knows he's done bad things, which seems to contradict what he said about not making mistakes. So, which is it Donald?

Obviously, Trump saying he doesn't make mistakes is just another gaslighting con. As humans we all make mistakes. The fact that Trump can't admit that is just another manifestation of his massive, out of control ego - an ego which is making him more authoritarian with each passing day.

Trump claims that his narrow escape from an assassination attempt was due to divine intervention. He says "God saved me for one reason: TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!," and that "by the grace of the almighty God" he survived the assassin's bullet. This is pandering to his Christian base on an astronomical level! This is exactly the kind of thing his Christian base loves to hear. It's "music to their ears" and helps reinforce the notion that Trump is their "savior." It's pathetic and disgusting, beyond words.
