Nine Dead and 27 Injured in Dayton Ohio after Mass Shooting

Around 1:00 am EST, a lone gunman shot and killed nine people and injured 27 others in the 400 block of East 5th Street in downtown Dayton, Ohio near the taverns Blind Bob's and Ned Peppers bar . Police arrived very quickly, about one minute after the shooting started, and shot and killed the gunman.

Police identified the shooter as Connor Betts, 24, of Bellbrook, Ohio 15 miles southeast of Dayton.

Betts wore body armor and was armed with a high capacity rifle and extra magazines. Both of the weapons Betts had with him (one was in his vehicle) were purchased legally at two different firearms dealers.

One of the dead victims is the gunman's 22-year-old sister.
