Since early November of this year, Trump has continued to state his case in support of his tariffs by posting on Truth Social. In all his posts he referenced the U.S. Supreme Court case challenging his tariffs which was argued on November 5.
Earlier in the year, on April 6, 2025, Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
We have massive Financial Deficits with China, the European Union, and many others. The only way this problem can be cured is with TARIFFS, which are now bringing Tens of Billions of Dollars into the U.S.A. They are already in effect, and a beautiful thing to behold. The Surplus with these Countries has grown during the "Presidency" of Sleepy Joe Biden. We are going to reverse it, and reverse it QUICKLY. Some day people will realize that Tariffs, for the United States of America, are a very beautiful thing!
Since then Trump has posted at least six times starting on November 4.
On November 4, 2025, Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
Tomorrow's United States Supreme Court case is, literally, LIFE OR DEATH for our Country. With a Victory, we have tremendous, but fair, Financial and National Security. Without it, we are virtually defenseless against other Countries who have, for years, taken advantage of us. Our Stock Market is consistently hitting Record Highs, and our Country has never been more respected than it is right now. A big part of this is the Economic Security created by Tariffs, and the Deals that we have negotiated because of them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
On November 24, 2025, Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
Despite the massive amount of money being made by the United States of America, Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, as a direct result of Tariffs being charged to other countries, the full benefit of the Tariffs has not yet been calculated in that many of the buyers of goods and products, in order to avoid paying the Tariffs in the short term, "STOCK UP" by purchasing far more inventory than they can use. That heavy inventory purchase is now, however, wearing thin, and soon Tariffs will be paid on everything they apply to, without avoidance, and the amounts payable to the USA will SKYROCKET, over and above the already historic levels of dollars received. These payments will be RECORD SETTING, and put our Nation on a new and unprecedented course. We are already the "hottest" Country anywhere in the World, but this Tariff POWER will bring America National Security and Wealth the likes of which has never been seen before. Those opposing us are serving hostile foreign interests that are not aligned with the success, safety and prosperity of the USA. They couldn't care less about us. I look so much forward to the United States Supreme Court's decision on this urgent and time sensitive matter so that we can continue, in an uninterrupted manner to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! On November 29, 2025, Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
Tariffs have made our Country Rich, Strong, Powerful, and Safe. They have been successfully used by other Countries against us for Decades, but when it comes to Tariffs, and because of what I have set in place, WE HAVE ALL THE CARDS, and with a smart President, we always will! Wars have been stopped, and stronger relationships with other countries have been built, even though they are not allowed to rip off the United States anymore. The Stock Market and 401k's have hit an all time high, Inflation, Prices and Taxes are DOWN. Education is being brought back to the States (where it belongs!), and our Military, and Southern Border, is the strongest they have ever been. The USA is respected again, respected like never before. All of this was brought about by Strong Leadership and TARIFFS, without which we would be a poor and pathetic laughingstock again. Evil, American hating Forces are fighting us at the United States Supreme Court. Pray to God that our Nine Justices will show great wisdom, and do the right thing for America!

The biggest threat in history to United States National Security would be a negative decision on Tariffs by the U.S. Supreme Court. We would be financially defenseless. Numbers recently released show that TARIFFS have reduced the Trade Deficit of the United States by more than half. This is larger than anyone, except ME, projected, and will only get stronger in the near future. Everybody should pray that the United States Supreme Court has the Wisdom and Genius to allow Tariffs to GUARD our National Security, and our Financial Freedom! There are Evil, America hating Forces against us. We can not let them prevail. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Despite what Trump and his administration say, tariffs are a tax on U.S. importers, and many corporations that continue to import goods have chosen to pass those additional costs on to consumers.

Trump recently floated the idea of tariff's generating so much income that the U.S. may no longer need federal income taxes. Analysis shows that future tariff income would generate only a small fraction of what is needed to offset the amount brought in through federal income taxes.

Jan 2, 2026 Update
On January 2, 2026, Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
Tariffs are an overwhelming benefit to our Nation, as they have been incredible for our National Security and Prosperity (like nobody has ever seen before!). Losing our ability to Tariff other countries who treat us unfairly would be a terrible blow to the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Commentary:
It's obvious that Trump's posts are an attempt to influence and sway the nine justices on the Supreme Court.
It's also obvious that Trump's posts are laying the groundwork and basis upon which he will blame and vilify the Court if it rule against his tariffs.
In Trump's April 6 post he said "The only way this problem can be cured is with TARIFFS." On November 4, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the following on the CNBC program "Squaw Box":
There are lots of other authorities that can be used, but IEEPA is by far the cleanest, and it gives the U.S. and the president the most negotiating authority. The others are more cumbersome, but they can be effective.
Bessent cited Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which provides a justification on grounds of national security, as well as Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which regulates unfair trading practices.
What Bessent said flies in the face of Trump's "only way" to solve the problem B.S., and Bessent is one of Trump's hand-picked sycophants. Once again, Trump has shown himself to be nothing but a gaslighting con-man and "liar in chief."
In Trump's November 4 post, he said that without tariffs "we are virtually defenseless." Once again, Bessent's November 4 statements on CNBC directly contradict and invalidate what Trump said.
In Trump's November 29 post he said "Evil, American hating Forces are fighting us at the United States Supreme Court. Pray to God that our Nine Justices will show great wisdom, and do the right thing for America!"
Referring to anti-tariff minded people as "evil" and "hating" is another example of how Trump keeps stoking the flames of division. Just because you disagree with Trump's tariff policy does not make you "evil" and it does it mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that you hate America. It's bad enough that Trump is trying to unduly influence the Supreme Court justices, but to attack and vilify people who don't agree with him is wrong and dangerous.

To say that a negative Supreme Court decision would be "The biggest threat in history to United States National Security" is just a lie. Without doing any research, off the top of my head I can think of two catastrophic events that surpass the "threat" of a negative ruling on tariffs. One, of course, is the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. Another one, of course, is the September 11 attacks on New York City. I'm sure there's a long list of others, but there's no point in wasting time trying to further prove that Trump is full of B.S.
In his December 16 post he said "Everybody should pray that the United States Supreme Court has the Wisdom and Genius to allow Tariffs to GUARD our National Security, and our Financial Freedom! There are Evil, America hating Forces against us. We can not let them prevail."
Again, Trump paints his perceived political enemies as "evil" and "hating," and again I say all this is doing is generating more evil and hate. And, for the second time Trump throws the word "pray" into the mix, implying that somehow his tariffs are what God wants, which again is B.S.
