By a vote of 242-184, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.36 - Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

The bill bans abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The bill requires women to receive counseling or medical treatment at least 48 hours before having an abortion. In the case of minors, the bill requires abortion providers to alert authorities. The bill also makes it easier to sue a non-compliant abortion provider.

The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate for a vote.
