May 8, 2017:

The hackers of the Macron campaign have been linked to the same Russian-affiliated group blamed for attacking the Democratic party shortly before the U.S. 2016 presidential election.

May 7, 2017:

By a vote of 66% to 34%, Emmanuel Macron defeated Marine Le Pen in the French presidential election.

May 6, 2017:

The Macron campaign confirmed it was the victim of a massive hack after a large batch of e-mails, supposedly from his political party, appeared online.

Opinion polls show Macron leading Le pen by 23%-25%.

Apr 24, 2017:

Marine Le Pen announced she is temporarily stepping down as leader of the National Front party.

Apr 23, 2017:

In the first round of presidential elections in France, independent Emmanuel Macron and National Front party Marine Le Pen received the most votes and will square off in the final round of voting in two weeks on May 7.

With 99% of the votes counted, Macron has 23.75% and Le Pen has 21.53%.

Macron is pro-EU (European Union), Le Pen is anti-EU.
