Jul 23, 2016:
Yesterday evening in Munich, Germany, a lone German-Iranian 18-year-old gunman shot and killed 9 people and wounded 27 others near a busy shopping mall. At the end of the shooting spree the gunman committed suicide by shooting himself.
Seven of the deceased victims were teenagers.
German Police said:
- based on evidence they found where the gunman lived, the gunman may have been obsessed with mass killings
- the gunman had been in psychiatric care and receiving treatment for depression
- the gunman had no known ties to the Islamic State
The attack took place on the fifth anniversary of the Anders Behring Breivik mass shooting in Norway.
