United States Fish & Wildlife Service Suspends Import of African Elephant Trophies

On April 4, 2014, the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, suspended the import of elephant trophies from Zimbabwe, Africa through the end of 2014.

Imports from Tanzania, Africa are suspended through the end of 2015.

On March 26, 2014, the Zimbabwe suspension was extended through the end of 2015.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service makes a decision to suspend imports if it can't determine that "...the killing of the animal whose trophy is intended for import would enhance the survival of the species in the wild."
