University of Cincinnati Police Officer Indicted on Murder Charges for Shooting Black Man

In Cincinnati, prosecutors said they will not seek a third trial against Ray Tensing.

Jun 23, 2017:

In Cincinnati, Hamilton County Judge Leslie Ghiz declared a mistrial in the second hearing of the case against Ray Tensing. After five days of deliberation the jury was deadlocked.

Nov 12, 2016:

In Cincinnati, Ohio, Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Megan Shanahan declared a mistrial in the case against Ray Tensing. On the fourth day of deliberations, a jury of 10 whites and two blacks remained deadlocked and unable to agree on a unanimous verdict.

Jul 30, 2015:

Ray Tensing entered a plea of not guilty in the shooting death of Samuel DuBose. Tensing is charged with one count of murder and one count of voluntary manslaughter.

Jul 29, 2015:

University of Cincinnati Police Officer Ray Tensing (a white man) was indicted on murder charges for shooting and killing Samuel DuBose (a black man) during a routine traffic stop on July 19, 2015. DuBose was unarmed at the time of the shooting.
