At least 28 people were killed at the Holey Artisan Bakery, a restaurant in Dhaka, Bangladesh, after seven terrorists took control of the restaurant last night. At least 35 people were held hostage in the restaurant for about 10 hours until security forces stormed the restaurant, killing six of terrorists and capturing one. Two Bangladeshi police officers were killed during the attack.

According to a witness, hostages were asked to recite from the Quran. Those who did were spared. Those who did not were tortured and brutally killed.

According to Bangladesh Police, all of the attackers are Bangladeshi citizens, five of which police had previously tried to arrest.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was targeting the citizens of countries who support military airstrikes against ISIS fighters.
